Q: Starting a llc for a construction company. Need to set up an llc for a construction company namely A & G construction Partners in Saint peters St. Charles County, MO.
A: You can set up a free llc here online. All llcs in MO need an LLC certificate, and an operating llc agreement. In addition, you will need to obtaina federal tax id and a business license. If you sell any merchandise under the llc, you will need a seller's permit and hiring employees requires a state ein.

In addition to a contractor's state license that requires that you take an exam, if applicable in your case, the majority of Construction businesses, 99.9%, you will need an occupational business license even if you obtain a free LLC filing or you incorporate.
You will be subjected to an exam to get a business license if you do any major stuctural work as in adding a big room to a house. In addition, you may need a federal tax ID number, and if you sell any merchandise, you will need a resale tax ID number. Also note that all LLCs need an occupational Construction business license. Also, if the llc has more than one member, or you will file a tax return for the LLC as a corporation as opposed as a disregarded entity, you will need a federal tax ID number for the LLC.Starting a business fist step is to choose the tax legal structure. There are three major ones:
1. Sole proprietor, Needs to file at least a dba and get a federal tax id. For example, if the construction company name is "A and Jays Construction," it is a trade name. If you file and llc with that name, you don't need to file a dba.
2. Partnership, Needs to file at least a dba and get a federal tax id, and
3. Corporation or Construction Limited Liability Company. All small, home or web based businesses as well as big businesses must choose and register as on of the above.
In addition, Construction businesses must obtain a business tax registration occupational license receipt.
If selling any taxable items, such as bath sinks etc, a business must also get a reseller ID number to buy wholesale and sell retail.
Finally, if a Construction business is an employer, it needs to get a federal EIN and a State EIN.I have a construction business building new homes in the bozeman montana area. I do light framing, roofing, painting, siding.I am a simple craft vendor. I am an amueter artist and sell paintings. all i do is craft show. do i need a vendor license?

I really dont make much money doing it. kinda a hobby i buy all goods retail. sell to cover materials. do i still need a license? none of this applies. I don't sell wholesale i don't make much if any profit. I pretty much sell what i paint to make room for me to paint more stuff. all a hobby.

Legal Structure

Whether an online, home, store, concession stand or a mobile cart, you will need to first select among sole owner/proprietor, partnership, LLC or corporation, all of which also require a General Business License (not a specific license to your type of business) as well. If your trade name is a business name other than your full personal legal name, you will need to file a DBA . For instance, your name is John Doe, and you do business as Best Widgets By John, the name must be registered with a DBA Biz Name because it is not your full legal name. Also, note that whatever item that you sell or lease and it is an item that can be touched (i.e., tangible such as equipment, toys, merchandise, electronics, prepared food) requires a state sales tax ID ( Sellers Permit ) to either buy or sell the items or products wholesale and or sell them retail. If you are hiring workers anytime soon, you will need a Federal EIN and a State EIN (employer identification number). Other instances that you will need a federal tax ID are: if you are a partnership, an independent contractor, and a corporation or an LLC . You can also obtain a federal tax ID as a sole proprietor and use it as a business tax ID in the place of a social security number. However, you will still need other registrations, such as licenses, an assumed business name DBA, and tax IDs as described above. Finally, even one person, sole owner/proprietors working from home or just online can form a LLC or incorporate, in which case, they will not need to file a DBA.

1. The proper license is a business license.
2. Here is which license: a business license and a seller's license.
3. You may need a business name if you use one then you need to file an LLC or file a DBA.

  3. For cleaning offices, the business license is $39.
  4. $39 and you will also be required to get an EIN and register the business name preferably with an LLC.
  5. For selling clothing world wide, in addition to the seller's permit, you will need to set up an LLC.
  6. For starting a food business, you will need the LLC formation, the EIN, the food handler's permit and the business license as well as the seller's permit.

so if I already have an S corp and a tax ID # I now need a sellers permit to? what else? sellers permit in addition to a tax ID#? I'm starting a t shirt business in Los Angeles ca what licenses do I need I need a business license to provide education or tutoring to children in their homes. The children are not coming to my home I go to their home. I am working as a contractor by a company to work with preschoolers at home . But they request me as independent business to register in the city of San Bernardino to require a business license to provide education or tutoring at home. but visiting the children in their homes.

Yes, in addition to an S corp. or to an LLC, you will need the seller's permit to sell tshirts.

I wanna check if my las vegas reflexologist license can also work in Clark county Hi. I work at a Catholic Church. We are getting ready to open a gift shop for our parishioners and I need to know what licenses, if any, we need. I have an S corp. I offer services to my clients and will be selling them oils and makeup as well. So I have a tax ID # with my S corp. Do I need another type of license or something to sell these products?

Yes, the license will work in Clark County because las vegas is located in Clark County. That is if you ask whether a NV state reflexology license will work in the Clark County. As far as business license, you need both a las vegas, a clark county and a state license. That is Nevada but take heart, there is no business income tax. E.g., in California it is 10 percent.
